[Bestest Youtubes] Inside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guys

 [Comments]

 10,000 FPS footage..30 FPS upload..c'mon.

But I really wouldn't recommend that cos these slo-mo vids arent meant to be sped up. You might lose some small detail that can only be seen at a slower fps. It would have to be really small tho.

+finderofblackopsthen why doesnt he upload at 15 fps... or 1

 Cameras are magic.

 I hate you

What Happens When You Press The Shutter? On days when the pressure of work blocks out my horizon I grab my SLR and go on a 15-20min shooting spree. The act of finding a subject, framing it and taking a few pictures completely dislocates me mentally and allows my brain to recharge.I used to shoot with analogue SLRs, way back when (I had a Praktika I bought on a trip to Berlin and I am one of the people who actually went through Checkpoint Charlie in the 80s). I had, back then a notion of how its insides worked but in the digital age I am too used to blanking things out unless there is firmware involved. This video is awesome because it takes you right into a camera the moment it shoots plus, as a by-the-way explains some of the principles of modern photography and filming. Enjoy and have a heck of a great Monday.  #KnowledgeIsAwesome   #photography

Yeah great video broP.S. This comment is not automatically generated.

Gosh that comment made me cringe, my penis recessed so far into my abdomen I doubt it will return. The douchey overdramatizing. Gosh

 Love this... Massively interesting!

 You should do a colab!

Remember people; This is the same guy that wonders if legs know if they're legs, and wonders "does rocks float on lava".

 +DauntingDays That one's actually correct, though.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_geometry

You have to ask strange questions to get the kinda knowledge you get out of this video. We subconsciously use our legs the way we do, so I'd be that our legs do know that they're legs.

Xcellent post! Great, funny, interesting and useful information ! Thanks

Gavin gets made fun of at Rooster Teeth for asking stupid questions, but if you really think about it, they really do make sense, they are just hard to explain, my mind thinks about those questions too, anybody else?

Look up Gavin Or Google, those are some examples and yes, Gavin doesn't try to seem on their level, he just asks questions that are too smart for him

+Timothy Jensen I disagree. I think everyone at Roosterteeth is really smart in their own right, and so is Gavin. But Gavin like most people who are pretty intelligent, has a difficult time putting words together to get his point out there. Not to mention that every time he opens his mouth either Burnie or Gus starts laughing at him. Which is fine and all but, they downplay him and make what he's saying sound stupid on purpose for the sake of it. Gav actually brings up a lot of cool philosophical and scientific statements but sometimes RT cares more about content than about actually philosophizing. Which, again, is totally fine and I'm all for content but... it would be interesting to see a show where Burnie, Gus, Gav, and some other people fro RT if they so chose to, discussed philosophy and science with minor "comedic" interruptions. I think it would be a pretty cool discussion without people interrupting Gav and calling him/implying he's stupid for not being able to fully vocalize his thoughts. I'm like that too, I often find it hard to explain exactly what I'm thinking of and if Gav is that way like I and many others imagine, I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for him to sit on the couch on the Podcast and have his thoughts misinterpreted by not only the other hosts but also his own brain misinterpreting... his own brain lmfao. Gavin isn't too smart for his own questions, he just isn't sure how to vocalize them a lot of time, just like any other human!

The camera shutter does not work how I thought think! This is TOTALLY worth watching. Awesome job +The Slow Mo Guys !  That explains why only the bottom of the picture has flash when the shutter speed is slower than 1/250th of a second.+John Thomas +Rose Kelley +Jeremiah York

 Wow.

 Cool

Neat little video here showing how SLR shutters work. I never knew that they are made up of two panes... nice to see it in action. Learn something new everyday eh!Even more interesting was the visual explanation of rolling shutter and how with every close of the shutter, the top of every frame is actually just a little bit older than bottom. That cork shot was a perfect example.Inside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guys: http://youtu.be/CmjeCchGRQo

A rolling shutter! How amazing! Pretty impressive. The slopey trees are pretty fascinating too.

I thought this was a cool video on how cameras are used. Maybe a fun little video to show off for your team during a training as a little "And Now You Know" moment.

I am a photographer and have never seen a video like this. Very cool!!!!

I didn't know that there was a mechanical shutter for stills.  I thought it was all electronic.  Interesting.

The Canon EOS 7D in slow motionThis is how the internal mechanics works on a DSLR, seen in super cool slow motion. I own this camera myself, for me that makes this extra cool to watch. This video was made by the Slow Mo Guys, enjoy. #canon #canonphotographers #dslr #slowmotion #cool #coolstuff #awesome

 Nice example.

Use photography to clear your mind+David Amerland uses 15 to 20 minute breaks from his work schedule by taking pictures. a good idea because as he explains the process needs a change of thinking from what you were doing. he also has included a short video on how a camera works when you click the shutter button. very interesting.

Great video! Thanks for sharing, +Ron Snayberger!

 Cool video.

the thing with the shadow was awesome  :)

I was half expecting the overused x files theme to play with the illuminati triangle when he showed the shadow thing haha too much parody vids...

Super cool... I've known what it's doing.. but never in this detail..

That's kind of what I got out of that too +Steve Kluver  That's mind blowing really.. haha  this should be taught in elementary school.. haha

At least with this rolling shutter. I'd like to see him do this with a global shutter too.

This is the same man that said "Does rocks float on lava?"

The jury's still out on whether or not he's a savant or just a really good actor.

It's stuff like this that make me love Gavin even more. He has so many layers to him. Smart guy honestly :)

 Im-presionante!

 Si señor muy buen video...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmjeCchGRQoAnd now you know why.

 Love it!

Fascinating insight into what actually goes on when you take a shot on a DSLR.

 Really interesting!

in a photo someone took with a camera with a rolling shutter that goes side to side, in a mirror on the right his son is blinking and on the left side he already has his eyes openpretty cool

Sometimes I worry about you on let's play gav. Then I watch these and realize there's still hope.

This is one of those videos YouTube never told me about...Just watched it now for the first time.CGP Grey illuminati confirmed.

Everytime I watch a slow mo guys video I'm all like "who is this smart young man? Where did Gavin the stupid little shit go? Where is the lovable idiot? This man is a fucking genius"Though I'mma be honest: that's just hella attractive. No one likes idiots who are dumb. Everyone loves idiots who actually know shit and just happen to express themselves in a stupid manner

Inside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guys: http://youtu.be/CmjeCchGRQo

 Nikhil, that was great!

Yeah, I recently switched from a mirrored dslr (Canon 60D) to an Electronic Viewfinder Mirrorless camera (Panasonic GH2) and I actually want to go back for photography purposes. There's just something about all those physical parts moving that makes me feel more in control and more natural.. I don't know.

Inside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guy's

Slow motion capture of a slow motion capture camera shutter? So much meta going on here.

I noticed on the Cannon, that when the metal ribs come down (especially at faster shutter speeds), they tend to jostle around a bit and you can JUST make out spaces between them. Do you think that small amount of light getting through the shutter is enough to make a difference? Are there cameras that have more sophisticated shutters to prevent this?

Roosterteeth: Wow! Gavin is an idiot!Slomoguys: Wow... Gavin is pretty intelligent

I can't stop smiling at the comment section. Not one single negative comment to be found.

GavinSlow mo guys: Fucking GeniusAchievement Hunter: Fucking IdiotI love you gavin

i love this kind of education video form you

What camera did you use to record at 250fps? thanks

Why is gavin a genius here but a complete retard on rooster teeth? XD

Coool ... das war neu für mich!

Wow!!!!I always want to know/see how that mechanic works inside, reading books without the image moving in front of your eyes is not the same! Love this footage and it shows it all!!!!Thank you for sharing +Rafal Kedziorski ;)

 Cameras are magic.

 Smile,,clik,,clik,,,

2 Gavin frees. Smart slow motion Gavin android theirs letsplay Gavin dumb android funny.

Holy shit imagine what the phantom looks like at 10000 frames per second

I feel sorry for the camera

Of course he is smart, he was the slo mo cinematographer for the RDJ Sherlock Holmes films

I gave this video to my photography teacher and she showed it in class.

What if she gets interested i n Gavin and starts showing 'more' stuff?

You should do a slow mo of a tattoo gun piecing the skin? Them needles are hitting the skin at extreme speeds to catch that would be awesome I believe there are about 8 needles going at the same time

I read this with the text upside down

 I loved this video!!

You should see what an Xbox controller looks like inside in slomo

hearing Gavin be smart after coming from acheivement hunter is truly perplexing

You realize how Canon's stocks went up after this video.

 did they really?

Breaking an arm at 1500 Fps?

 Any volunteers?

Hey Slo Mo Guys, it will be so cool if you guys did a football edition with the Yoga balls, kinda like taking a hit from a defender, passing, catching etc. I just thought that would be cool, thanks for reading! You guys are the best!!!

I learned that Cannon are a goof tough make of camera!

Really cool vid! I'd love to see these kind of "informational" videos more often :)

Ill never think of gavin the same way now that i found roosterteeth

What does a global shutter look like?

I like it. Good work Gavin Free, educational and entertaining, and still funny.

 That camera needs fan art

Congrats on half a billion views

wow i actually learned more here than what i did in my photography class in high school all semester

You guys should go and record a real plasma cam and watch it cut metal and film that in slo mo

At first it's white and gold now it's black and blue

 Gavin practices recreational stupidity.

 Nice video gav

Hey I was wondering where you could get one of these cameras, and how cheap are they? I wanted to get into filming snowboarding/skateboarding in slow mo, if anybody has any suggestions please get back to me! Thanks

 Anybody?

This is incredibly interesting!! I already knew what was happening inside my camera when I pressed the shutter but seeing it takes it to another level! Thank you so much!!!!

xD  what was the yell at the start AHHHHHHHHH!

Holy chest hair batman. It's like it's popping up and saying 'hello'.

Gavin can you do a slow motion vid on a person practising the nunchaku?????

Manches davon will man gar nicht so genau wissen.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmjeCchGRQo

 Insane......

Mycket intressant.

 Tack att dela. Intressant.

Interesting video on how a camera shutter works when you take a photo with a DSLRInside a Camera at 10,000fps - The Slow Mo Guys: http://youtu.be/CmjeCchGRQo

First thing that came to me when I saw this was Hal from 2001 a space Odyssey

 Very cool.
