Hundreds of thousands of people have clicked a button on reddit. Turns out that when you click can reveal a lot about your brain, and human nature.

I'm purple, clicked at 59 seconds the first day. I just clicked the button not knowing anything about the system, especially not knowing that I could only click it once. I don't think any of the reasons for pushing the button presented in this video applies to me.

I clicked the button when the timer on my screen showed 5s, however, because network lag, it registered other users to have clicked it already, and I got a purple 59s.I also have noticed that whenever the timer resets from a long value, it often is punctuated by many quick resets, so it's more complicated than just the psychology, as there are network and refresh issues based on your color.

+Cesar Feliz Personally, I think social experiments help to bring up questions or observations that we can, then, do more controlled experiments on. Do something random, extremely low or high sample size, begin noticing weird patterns or ideas and then expand on those patterns or ideas until you can come to a test that can be scientific in nature, repeatable and studyable.

I haven't yet pressed the button. i was thinking about trying for the red flair, but after watching this video i'm now rethinking my opinion on all this. feels like whether i go for the delayed gratification thing or just act impulsively, i'm just a pawn in someone else's game. It's like playing "The Game." If you know what I mean by that, you just lost. Whether you like it or not once it's in your head, The Game has you. My favorite color is purple, has been since I was a kid, long before this stupid button. So whether I get a red flair or purple, I'd still "win" by my own rules.

I got that sweet, sweet purple flair status because I hit the button as soon as I saw it and before I had any idea what it was for.It shouldn't surprise anyone, therefore, to hear that I have ADHD.  My prefrontal cortex is such a slacker.

I use Reddit a lot, but I only go to one or two subreddits, and only for youtubers that I like that have turned the comments on their videos off, like totalbiscuit and (until recently) nerdcubed (he turned his comments back on but I still go to the subreddit).  I've not heard of this button until this video.

You don't get anything of any value, so the only thing you can measure with it is how desperate for attention people are or something along those lines, but not how patient they are. Who would care for some coloured code on some website? You'd have to offer something with a good chance of people actually wanting it to compare the experiments.
